Scarecrows

We are the first village in the UK to host a Halloween themed scarecrows event.
 

 
“Hoptoberfest” 21 until 31 October 2017
 
Pumpkin Carving, Gingerbread Decorating, Apple Bobbing (and much more).
 


Shrouded Cinema

Secret showing of a seasonal family film in Calverley - invitation only - hotdogs (and vegdogs) plus popcorn will be served. (27 October).

If you are unable to make the Calverley Film there are some seasonal films being shown at Kirkstall Abbey, details are here.

 
Halloween Party at (venue to be confirmed), Calverley, 28 October 2017, 8pm until 11pm
 
The 2016 Halloween Party saw the most fun and exciting fancy dress last year, so lets make it bigger and better this year! Dig out your most fun and gruesome costumes as there will be prizes available for the best fancy dress and Halloween themed food and drink will also be available.


Scareycrows 2017

Themes are:  Songs, Creative, Traditional and Halloween.

Entry Forms for the Scarecrow Festival (21 until 31 October 2016) will be available here (Word) and here (pdf).  

Paper versions of the entry form will be available from Calverley Best One & Post Office, Calverley Library and Calverley News.


Please ensure that the entries are returned to the address stated on the entry form.



You can vote online for your "crop idol" by pressing the picture to the left.

Paper based votes for Calverley's Crop Idol are also taken at Calverley News and Calverley Best One.

Copies of the "Scareycrow Trail" will be available from Calverley Post Office and Calverley News. Maps cost 50p each and any profits made will be donated to Wheatfields Hospice.



 
Scarecrow Making Workshop, Calverley (Venue to be confirmed), September 2017, 10am until 2pm

Get creative and make a scarecrow that could win you prizes.

Themes are: Songs, Creative, Traditional and Halloween.

Please bring old clothes to dress your scarecrow.

Workshop sessions will take place every hour.

Pop Up Pumpkins



For those of you who have not been able to build a scarecrow we encourage you to be creative with your pumpkin carvings.

Send us a picture of your carved pumpkin and a prize will be awarded by us for "Best in Village".








Charity Pumpkin/Turnip Carving







 



The idea is that you carve a pumpkin/turnip, donate it to "the cause". 

Someone buys your carved pumpkin/turnip for charity.

Carved pumpkins cost £10.00.


The nominated charity for 2017 will be Wheatfield's Hospice.
