Creative Calverley
Something rather special

Advent Windows 2022(Christmas theme).

From the 1 December residents and businesses in Calverley have been challenged to create seasonal scenes in their windows. This year's theme will be "Christmas".
Windows throughout the village will be decorated and the scenes will be lit consecutively at dusk (4pm). All windows once they have been unveiled will be lit until at least the 24 December, with many of the windows staying lit until twelfth night when there will be a special "Communitea Party" (subject to Covid 19 restrictions).
The advent windows initiative aims to involve all members of the community whether young or professional, retired or unwaged.
The artwork will be prepared by the houses/businesses involved. A variety of mixed media ranging from paintings, collage, stained glass effect, graffiti and sculpture can all be used.
A photograph of each new window, will appear on the Facebook Page/Twitter site as soon as we are able to photograph the window (you are also encouraged to send photographs to us), so that those who are unable to visit the village can still join in the fun.
By Christmas Eve there will be many different windows to see and enjoy as you walk through the village - a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
The advent window trail will be available during the Christmas period and will be a great way of getting some fresh air during your festivities.
If you would be interested in hosting a window, please contact us on info@creativecalverley.co.uk or text 07764682560 and mark your text advent windows.

As part of the advent windows campaign we are also aiming to display "hundreds of angels (a company of angels) throughout the village.
Just print a copy of the angel template (here Word or here PDF, colour it in and display in your window over the festive season.
All welcome to join in.

Light up Calverley, please leave a light in your window/outside your house throughout December to indicate hope for a brighter year ahead.
2022 has been a challenging year for many people and we are hoping that lights can play a part in brightening up the Christmas season and help the year to finish well.
