Throughout our time we have raised funds for nominated charities:
Hope for Tomorrow
St Gemmas Hospice
Macmillan Cancer Care
In 2012 we were approached by the National Citizen Service whether we could "mentor" a group of young people on volunteering in the community.
We did and hope to again.
Calverley in Bloom
We hosted litter picks, heritage walks, wildlife walks and helped Calverley in Bloom to achieve their first ever "gold award" in 2012.
In 2013 we hosted litter picks and birdwatching walks.
In 2014 we continued to organise litter picks. With the help of a project from Kew Gardens we are also distributing wildflower seeds to enable people to grow native wild plants in containers and hanging baskets in their gardens.
In 2019 we continue to hold our annual sunflower growing competition for the seventh year.
We continue to help this organisation by promoting their events on social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
The sunflower competition is now in its fourth year, but is spreading out across Leeds with people in Bramley, Rodley, Farsley, Guiseley, Pudsey and Kirkstall also getting involved with the competition.
Tunbridge Wells (Kent) are also joining in the competition as a bit of fun as they have a "Calverley Park" as well.
Calverley Horticultural Society
Results of Calverley Scarecrow "Crop Idol" was announced at the first ever "Open Allotment Coffee Morning" in 2012.
In May 2013 we helped members of Calverley Horticultural Society to plant the "edible" bed in Calverley (Victoria) Park.
We helped to organise the carnival 2013/ 2014/ 2015.
